If your favorite memories are those spent perusing the aisles of the local Louisville antique mall, consider this your sign to take it one step further and become a vendor today! Whether you've been sitting on a near-priceless collection and are looking to downsize or have a passion for finding one-of-a-kind furniture pieces from a specific era, we can assure you that there's a booth rental for every kind of seller at America's Antique Mall Louisville.
Â
What's the Difference Between a Traditional Retail Space and Booth Rental?
Â
A traditional retail space tends to refer to a standalone or shared storefront where the owner signs a long lease to have complete control over the business's operations and branding. Booth rentals are the lower-cost alternative, referring to a more compact and curatable area that an individual can rent out within a large antique mall. Both have their pros and cons, so it's important to debate which one suits your needs best.
Â
The Benefits of Booth Rentals in Louisville
Â

Call us biased, but we believe that renting a booth in Louisville is nearly always the way to go if you specialize in vintage, antique, upcycled, or handmade designs. Â
5 Benefits of Louisville Booth Rentals:

Day-to-day freedom:Â with staff taking care of sales, you'll be able to spend your days tracking down new items to add to your shelves
Foot traffic:Â the mall already brings in its own crowd of visitors every day, increasing the odds of someone shopping your collection

Â
Follow These 7 Steps to Open a Booth Rental in Louisville
Â
So, you've been convinced to start a Louisville booth rental! Well, congratulations—let's get started:
Â
Step 1: Decide What You Want to Sell
Â
Before you send in an application, you'll want to get at least a general understanding of what it is you want to sell. This can be a specific kind of niche or just a solid example of the tchotchkes and collectibles you feel drawn towards. Pictures or descriptions of these items will help a mall manager visualize whether or not you're a good fit.
Â

What Types of Items Can You Sell at an Antique Mall Booth Rental?
Â
Sports memorabilia
Antique figurines
Vintage clothing
Retro kitchenware
Holiday décor
Â
Step 2: Gather Your Retail Space Application Materials
Â
When you're ready to take the leap, it's time to fill out the application. While some malls may offer in-store forms, applications for our retail space are online and in-store for your convenience. We also love to see our vendors at the store when it is open to help them pick the best booth or showcase too!
Â
The form will have you include your name, contact information, social media accounts, any relevant vendor experience, and examples of merchandise. Once you're satisfied, send it in!
Â
Step 3: Chat with the Vendor Mall's Manager
Â
After the application has been received, our vendor mall manager will reach out to discuss next steps for your retail space. They'll ask straight away if you're interested in a booth (ranging from 8'X10' to 14'X10), a locked glass showcase (3'X6'X1.6'), or a combination of the two. If there is space for your collection, you'll move on to discussing the financials and drafting the lease.

Â
America’s Antique Mall Booth Rental Details
Â
The booths in our Louisville retail space are rented month-to-month at $2.75 per square foot, while our showcases are rented at $85 flat. It should be noted that the mall makes a 12% commission on all sales. After a $100 deposit (applied to your first month's rent), you're officially considered an America's Antique Mall vendor!
Â
Step 4: Make a Plan for Your Booth Layout
Â
Now that you're officially renting a retail space in Louisville, you can begin to dream up your perfect booth layout. But before you get stuck on the little details, like which action figure or comic book to place where, we encourage you to create a walkable path using larger pieces of furniture, tables, and even rugs. This will let guests comfortably explore your booth without feeling cramped or fearing knocking something over.
Â
Step 5: Move Your Merchandise In
Â

Once you're satisfied with the organization of your booth, you can move your curated collection in! Take your time filling each shelf, hook, and bin with your cherished items and decide which items should be showcased front and center. The sky's the limit!
Â
Step 6: Advertise Your Retail Space Online
Â
While most antique malls, like ours, have their own marketing team to draw in a fanbase, it never hurts to spread the good news yourself! Create business social media accounts to build an online following and share retail space updates along the way. That way, by the time sales roll around or hot new items come in, your repeat clients will be kept in the loop!
Â
Step 7: Sit Back and Watch Sales Soar
Â
Now that the hard part is done, you can feel free to sit back and let the antique mall staff handle the day-to-day transactions. At America's Antique Mall, we do not require workdays for our vendors. But that doesn't mean you have to stay away! You're more than welcome to stop by on a whim to say hi or to refresh and restock your vendor booth.
Â
Our Favorite Ways to Refresh a Vendor Booth:
